This course engages students in an examination of societal grand challenges by identifying the problems, understanding the current state of knowledge, identifying knowledge gaps, and implementing possible solutions. Permission of department required.

Learning Outcomes

1Explain how the accumulated knowledge and experiences of Insect Biology majors can be applied to address Grand Challenges.

2Demonstrate where capstone projects and grand challenges intersect.

3Explain roles insect biologists play in addressing grand challenges, and the relationship to future career options.

4Demonstrate skills in communication, critical thinking and teamwork.
