Spring 2026 Laboratory Lecture Upper DivisionThe design, fabrication, and testing of the electronics that comprise audio signal transduction, transmission, processing, amplification and delivery to a loudspeaker are studied at an introductory level. Computer-aided analysis of circuits is used.
Learning Outcomes1Quantify and measure sound and signal levels in terms of dB.
2Convert dB, crest factor, THD, and frequency cut-off specifications into circuit design parameters.
3Interface circuitry to microphones and loud speakers.
4Design, build, and test a small audio system containing differential transmitters, differential amplifiers, simple active filters summers/mixers, class AB and class D power and bridged audio power amplifiers.
