Spring 2025 Laboratory Lecture Upper DivisionBiology and life cycles of selected protozoan, helminth, and arthropod parasites of veterinary importance. Emphasis will be placed on laboratory procedures for the identification of common parasites of domestic and laboratory animals.
Learning Outcomes1Identify gross and microscopic parasite stages that help in disease diagnosis.
2Select and perform the appropriate assays used in laboratory diagnosis of parasitic infections.
3Summarize parasite life cycle, pathogenesis and clinical signs of various parasitic diseases.
4Advocate the methods of parasite control and prevention.
5Create a safety plan to prevent zoonotic disease transmission.
