This course will focus on the construction of roads, bridges, and other major transportation-related infrastructure. Topics include construction of concrete pavements, asphalt pavements, deep foundations, and underground utilities. Management of traffic, road construction safety, quality and master planning will also be covered.

Learning Outcomes

1Explain terminology and construction requirements for embankments and aggregate bases.

2Develop a plan for highway construction equipment.

3Compare the procedures and techniques for construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of asphalt and concrete pavements.

4Apply quality control techniques in highway construction.
