Spring 2025 Lecture Laboratory Credit By ExaminationLower DivisionDepartmental CreditJEDIHumanitiesContinuation of RUSS 20100. Development of Russian language skills at the higher intermediate level in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and in cultural competence. Conversational and writing ability receive prominence, as well as a review of Russian grammar. Students continue working with authentic reading and audio materials individually and in small groups.
Learning Outcomes1Understand both ordinary conversations and messages such as short news items, brief interviews, or advertisements, delivered at normal speed.
2Maintain ordinary conversations on everyday topics as presented in class and in the textbook.
3Read and understand ordinary original texts in Russian related to everyday activities.
4Write a report, an article, or a letter about important topics, as discussed in class.
5Expand their factual knowledge about everyday customs, key events, and prominent persons in Russian and Soviet culture with the goal to enhance their intercultural appreciation and communication skills.
6Recognize, appreciate and compare similarities and differences between their own culture and Russian culture.
