Spring 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionStudents will be introduced to the regulation of solid and hazardous wastes; engineering design, planning and analysis of solid and hazardous waste management facilities.
Learning Outcomes1Solve basic problems related to pollutant generation, waste collection and composition, recycling, and thermal conversion processes.
2Apply knowledge of topics from chemistry such as stoichiometry, kinetics, and equilibrium to gas generation, and waste composition.
3Understand the role of an engineer involving regulations, ethics, professionalism, engineering practice and registration.
4Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively.
5Solve environmental and public health problems associated with man-made and natural disasters.
