Spring 2025 Lecture Distance Learning Lower DivisionDepartmental CreditJEDIThis course is the second half of the intermediate Korean language sequence. The main purpose of this course is to expand on the study of the Korean language and culture, and develop an Intermediate Mid proficiency level. Some class meetings are conducted entirely in Korean. The course provides students with further conversational and grammatical skills. Students practice reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and conversation using textbooks and authentic materials for introduction of Korean culture and authentic language usage.
Learning Outcomes1Assess paragraph-length texts and oral discourse to comprehend texts and dialogue in the classroom.
2Explain orally in Korean topics that are based on personal experiences in order to successfully interact with native speakers on a prepared topic.
3Analyze, learn, and produce forms of polite speech, forms to describe past experience, and forms to express supposition.
4Compose written language in Korean to meet practical writing needs that address the present, past, and some hypothetical situations.
5Describe facts and evidence related to Korean history, culture, and daily life through simple authentic texts and materials such as magazines, drama skits, movies, K-pop lyrics, or traditional grams.
