Spring 2025 Lecture Variable TitleUpper DivisionThis variable title course deals with topics that explore a range of experiences and analytical perspectives clustered around the contemporary global experience. The course will vary in subject matter but focus on the challenges and rewards of a globalized world as articulated through topics such as cross-border histories, music, gender, racial formations, film, and economic development. Content will vary with the instructors teaching the course.
Learning Outcomes1Understand, by definition but also by analytical variation, the range of lived experiences and critical perspectives that encompass the contemporary global experience.
2Recognize the cultural, economic, and political characteristics that define contemporary globalization.
3Think and write analytically about contemporary globalization through topics such as national or regional histories, music, gender and/or racial formations, film, literature, politics, and economics.
