Fall 2025 Lecture Distance LearningThe PhD Cognate includes experiential learning that provides preliminary preparation for conducting the PhD Dissertation Proposal. The course will incorporate guidelines for ethical conduct of human studies, research-based studies, and evaluation of evidence-based literature for study design. The course will assist students to develop the project reflective of previous courses, evidence, project feasibility, theoretical frameworks, appropriate methodology and data analysis.
Learning Outcomes1Use communication information technology to advance the scholarship of discovery as a nurse scientist.
2Analyze emerging clinical patterns and problems within a practice setting, healthcare organization, community, or system.
3Integrate nurse-led care strategies that meet current and future healthcare needs based on scientific findings in nursing, organizational, political, economic, and other related sciences.
4Employ consultative and leadership skills with transdisciplinary teams to generate new knowledge to improve healthcare.
5Evaluate existing knowledge to develop a research plan to guide the generation of new knowledge and ideas to improve health.
6Interact with diverse organizational cultures and populations, such as stakeholders of a specific topic, health system leaders, research participants, and interdisciplinary team members.
