This course is to conduct physics research in a class-based environment. As such, we will perform authentic research, defined as work with the potential for results that are of interest to the scientific community. We will work with large data sets, such as those collected by survey telescopes, dark matter experiments, or detectors at the Large Hadron Collider.

Learning Outcomes

1Gain confidence in scientific abilities by experiencing a full scientific cycle from stating the problem and formulating the hypothesis, to data analysis and drawing conclusions.

2Train in scientific communication, team skills, and soft skills.

Course PHYS 323 from Purdue University - West Lafayette.
