Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionThis course provides the student with a detailed exploration of aircraft asset management programs in both airlines and business aviation organizations. Students analyze and study the critical components of an asset management program, the financial methods in aircraft asset management, acquisition proposals, and development plans of aircraft acquisitions in this course. An airline industry-relevant project is used to improve student reasoning and application of industry standard aircraft asset management analysis procedures to include forecasting techniques, present value calculations, and benefit-cost analyses. This course serves as the foundational knowledge required for AT 54900.
Learning Outcomes1Review critically, synthesize, document and summarize relevant research literature in the field of aircraft asset management, expressing themselves clearly and concisely in writing and oral presentation.
2Recognize the critical components of an aircraft asset management program, thoroughly develop a business case for aircraft acquisition, and manage an in-service fleet of aircraft.
3Develop a simulated asset management team and work effectively and collaboratively as part of the team.
4Produce a high-quality airline industry aircraft asset management project, conduct financial analyses of aircraft assets, document findings in a paper, and communicate the key principles regarding their project in a professional presentation.
