Spring 2026 Lecture Laboratory Credit By ExaminationDepartmental CreditLower DivisionPrinciples and design concepts of aircraft operating systems are covered. Emphasis is given to flight control, electrical, environmental, hydraulic, pneumatic, pressurization, oxygen, heating, cooling, fire protection, and ice and rain protection systems. Also included are theory of operation and design of aircraft instruments and associate systems.
Learning Outcomes1Learn the function and operational principles aircraft instruments.
2Learn the function of various components in a system for maintaining a healthful and comfortable environment in an aircraft.
3Study, inspect, and check ice, rain, and fire control aircraft systems.
4Determine the location of the elements in the aircraft and become familiar with the function and operating procedures for the typical system found on light single or light twin engine aircraft.
5Learn to recognize various fittings and their application when used for rigid tubing and flexible hose.
6Learn the use of tools and FAA Regulations in relation to aircraft tube and hose fabrication.
7Learn the basic fundamentals of hydraulic systems, power, components and control.
8Learn the different hydraulic fluids, seal design and system compatibility used in hydraulic systems.
