Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionIn today's business environment, success is driven by a firm's ability to create and capture value through innovation. This course seeks to develop tools for understanding how firms and industries evolve through new technology. This award-winning course uses an experiential team-based approach. Student teams pick a firm early in the semester and become experts in it by understanding how each framework we learn impacts its performance. The class is very interactive and there are various presentations throughout the semester. Ultimately students gain a deep understanding of the processes used by firms to develop new technologies, the choices they make regarding how to commercialize their knowledge, and the strategies they use to position and build a dominant competitive position.
