Spring 2026 Laboratory Lower DivisionThe Data Mining Lab provides a guided Experiential Learning environment for School of Business', especially BS BAIM's, freshman and sophomore students to learn the basics of business data variety, how they are organized, and what insights may be mined for. Students will have hands-on experience to get familiar with a specific data mining tool, R, for carrying out some data mining experiments. Completion of this course will not only enable students to see how the prerequisite or accompanying foundational courses are relate to their major studies but also help them better preparing for successes in their multiple upper division course studies.
Learning Outcomes1Recall examples of business data and data driven decisions.
2Exemplify the concepts of structured business data and enterprise data management infrastructure.
3Differentiate business applications of supervised and unsupervised data mining methods.
4Explain data mining framework that consists of data understanding, insights derivation, and analytical result communication.
5Use a data mining tool, R, for simple data mining related tasks.
