Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionKnowledge base necessary for the competent assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech sound disorders in children, including developmental phonological disorders, motor speech disorders, and residual speech errors.
Learning Outcomes1Design an assessment plan for a child referred due to poor speech intelligibility and/or for a suspected speech disorder.
2Describe a child's phonological knowledge at multiple levels of representation to distinguish between normal and disordered speech development.
3Compare the characteristics of the common subtypes of speech sound disorders.
4Interpret the results of the speech assessment to select an appropriate treatment approach.
5Create appropriate short-term and long-term treatment goals, including relevant instructional objectives, for a child with a speech disorder.
