Fall 2025 Instructors:

An introduction to the techniques of woodcut, linocut, collagraph, and related media. Emphasis on fine art conceptual issues, creativity, matting and framing art, and professional practices.

Learning Outcomes

1Create contemporary personal work with expressive and original ideas informed by the study of historic and contemporary relief printmaking artists and art concepts.

2Demonstrate relief printmaking through carving multiple printing materials, printing by hand, using a printing press, and through multiple-layered registration.

3Invent, solve, and self-assess visual problems using concept, content, design, color, composition, and sketchbook during the creative process and printing.

4Describe and analyze the work of professional printmaking artists, self and peers.

5Demonstrate knowledge and technical skills in carving skills and making fully inked prints.
