Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionGiven the needs of struggling/striving readers throughout the educational system, this class will focus on effective interventions from the primary grades through high school. Instructors will present a balance of theoretical and practitioner-oriented aspects of reading development and instruction. The course will also examine a number of reading models and instructional approaches designed to ensure all students have access to effective, research-based literacy instruction. The goal is to ensure students complete the semester with a range of essential tools for working with this population.
Learning Outcomes1Develop an understanding of effective Tier 1 and Tier 2 reading instruction.
