Spring 2026 Laboratory Lecture Upper DivisionThe study of the technical aspects of audio as they relate to use of, and experimentation with, various techniques in the design, installation, and specification of theatre sound systems, etc. Permission of instructor required.
Learning Outcomes1Define key terms related to room acoustics, loudspeaker systems, and audio system components.
2Use industry-standard tools and techniques to read and interpret architectural drawings and system flow diagrams.
3Analyze architectural drawings and system flow diagrams to identify potential acoustic challenges and opportunities.
4Compare and evaluate different loudspeakers, mixing consoles, digital signal processing systems, and cabling options based on performance requirements.
5Design and develop a complete sound system for a theoretical theatre, incorporating loudspeaker placement, mixing consoles, digital signal processing, and cabling based on principles of acoustics and technical requirements.
