Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionFundamental concepts and principles of fluid mechanics in the context of biomedical applications. Governing equations of flow and transport are derived from the first principles and applied to conditions characteristic of the human circulatory system.
Learning Outcomes1Formulate differential equations and determine appropriate boundary conditions to model biomedical fluid mechanics problems.
2Apply conservation laws of flow physics to describe the fluid flow in various geometries, particularly for flow in a cylindrical tube.
3Recognize and quantitatively describe flow conditions characteristic of blood flow in human circulation in health and disease.
