Spring 2026 LectureThe goal of this course is to develop and practice skills for clear scientific writing. The course is designed to introduce and practice the building blocks of scientific writing, including word choice, sentence structure and paragraph structure. In addition, students will be introduced to components of a hypothesis testing biomedical research paper in order to communicate a storyline. In addition, the publication cycle will be discussed. Prerequisites: Graduate standing past the first year. NUTR 60500 and NUTR 60600 and NUTR 60700. Other students can be approved for entry by permission of the instructor.
Learning Outcomes1Develop and apply skills to clearly explain biomedical research in writing including word choice, sentence structure and paragraph structure.
2Recognize tools in writing and understand components of a clearly written biomedical research paper.
3Know how the publication cycle works.
