This course introduces the knowledge base on which digital animation and spatial graphics technology are founded and developed. Emphasis will be placed on developing a working knowledge of the mechanics of 3D geometric formats, spline-based modeling with polygon mesh & NURBS, procedural mapping of raster images, simplified polygon modeling, rendering methods, hierarchical linking, and kinematic fundamentals.

Learning Outcomes

1Explain the basic concepts of animating objects over a specific amount of time.

2Apply appropriate design parameters to achieve a pre-defined animation outcome.

3Define and explain clearly production timeline needs associated with animation projects.

4Create animation along a timeline using various techniques such as anticipation, follow through, squash & stretch, balance, gravity, etc. for desired motion.

Course CGT 241 from Purdue University - West Lafayette.
