Fall 2025 LectureThis course examines the ethics, norms, and expectations of the profession of political science and public policy for those engaged in doctoral level study. The course explores topics of professional development to support progress in the degree and building a successful career. Permission of department required.
Learning Outcomes1Explain the expectations for professional conduct in research, teaching, and service at Purdue and in professional political science settings, including why these standards are relevant for advancing free inquiry, diversity, and creating an inclusive culture.
2Develop a sequenced plan of professional activities to help prepare them for success in the program and the job market by their final year in the program.
3Identify how to access resources to support professional development in the college, the university, and the discipline of political science.
4Demonstrate an ability to independently select and participate in meaningful professional development activities.
