This course provides an understanding of the types of data generated and used in the product lifecycle, the current tools and methodologies in the management of that data, and system analysis and implementation techniques for using PDM as the backbone supporting a company's product development and implementation activities. Interaction between various enterprise systems is discussed.

Learning Outcomes

1Develop a significant understanding of concepts, applications, and procedures involved in the controlling, protecting, and accessing product definition data.

2Understand and apply Product Data Management (PDM) technologies and methods in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environment.

3Use a PDM system from the end-user perspective, simulating various workflows.

4Understand basic principles of project management.

5Understand the creation and importance of object metadata.

6Describe the relevance of PDM in model-based enterprises.
