Fall 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionExamination of construction project management on the jobsite. Topics include, submittals, record keeping, jobsite layout, meetings, negotiations, dispute resolution, labor relations, safety, subcontracting, quality, cost control, waste management, changes, claims, progress payments, and project closeout.
Learning Outcomes1Apply project management foundations.
2Analyze the fundamentals of project management by identifying project team roles, managing subcontracting and purchasing, and interpreting construction documents for jobsite applications.
3Demonstrate project administration and documentation skills.
4Prepare and evaluate submittals, samples, shop drawings, and project records; utilize computerized project administration; process progress payments; and implement effective closeout procedures.
5Manage jobsite operations and personnel.
6Coordinate labor relations, enforce safety management, lead meetings, facilitate negotiations, resolve disputes, and administer changes and claims to maintain productive and compliant jobsite operations.
7Control project performance and sustainability.
8Implement quality management systems, monitor and adjust time and cost controls, and apply sustainable practices in waste and environmental management to improve project outcomes.
9Integrate technology and innovation in construction management.
10Employ Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other digital tools to enhance project planning, coordination, administration, and communication across stakeholders.
