An introduction to, and overview of, the fundamental concepts of labor relations, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution procedures. An international comparative analysis is used to assess some of the legal, economic, and political structures of labor relations.
Learning Outcomes1Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and function of labor unions and the role they play in the U.S.
2Demonstrate an understanding of the historical development of both labor unions and union-management relations in the U.S.
3Demonstrate an understanding of U.S. labor legislation and how it affects the labor relations process.
4Demonstrate an understanding of the three phases of the labor relations process - the organizing of unions, the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and the administration of collective bargaining agreements.
