The essential concepts of industrial bioprocessing with a focus on the physiology of fermentation; a series of laboratory experiments that follow value-adding processes from conception to completion.

Learning Outcomes

1Learn laboratory techniques, to design and conduct experiments, and to analyze and interpret data.

2Design appropriate bioreactor models based upon bioproducts and other process criteria.

3Conduct fermentation experiments with process optimization and scale-up.

4Model the growth of microorganisms in batch, fed-batch, and continuous flow processes.

5Gain an overview of the fermentation industry.
