Fall 2025 Instructors:

A study of literature or film produced during a well-defined historical period from the view of its social, political, religious, and economic contexts. A project-based capstone seminar containing a significant research component. May be repeated for credit only with a different topic.

Learning Outcomes

1Demonstrate knowledge of a range of genres, topics, and literary conventions of a particular period in history.

2Discuss those genres, topics, and conventions in relation to their diverse historical, cultural, and aesthetic contexts.

3Produce a substantial work or project: a research essay; a digital humanities project; a scholarly edition; or a comparable service learning project.
