The experimental origins of Maxwell's equations. Electrostatics and magnetostatics; solution of boundary value problems. Quasi-static currents. Electromagnetic energy and momentum and the Maxwell stress tensor. Foundations of optics. Radiation from antennas, multi-pole expansion; waveguides. Prerequisite: PHYS 53000, 60000.
