Methods of description and basic equations for turbulent flows. Isotropic and homogeneous turbulence, energy spectra, and correlations. Introduction to measurements. Transition theory and experimental evidence. Wall turbulence, engineering calculations of turbulent boundary layers. Free turbulent jets and wakes. Prerequisite: ME 61000.
