Forum on contemporary issues in the global profession of mechanical engineering. Professionalism and ethics. Interactions with engineering faculty and with professionals outside the University. Quizzes on assigned readings in the areas of globalization, cultural difference and collaborating across cultural boundaries. Individually developed professional profiles describe technical interests and convey awareness of ethical responsibilities in global context.

Learning Outcomes

1Provide a solid foundation in global engineering skills.

2Introduce the in global engineering community and encourage active involvement with professional associations such as ASME and SAE to develop teamwork and leadership skills.

3Explore the ME Curriculum and identify resources available for planning a academic program including global literacies (language and area studies) and for obtaining diverse industrial experience appropriate for developing global competencies.

4Support the development of a strong ethical framework for global professional workplace, including an appreciation for cultural differences, as a responsible member of the global engineering community.
