Fall 2025 Lecture Distance Learning Upper DivisionThis course focuses on both the generation of primary evidence through an in-depth examination of the research process and its critical use in evidence based practice. Students systematically search, appraise and interpret the best available evidence that informs advanced practice nursing and health related disciplines.
Learning Outcomes1Implement search strategies of bibliographic databases that are sensitive and specific for research questions.
2Appraise various sources of evidence using standardized tools.
3Analyze the research process as it applies to the primary research and evidence-based practice process.
4Use a systematic process to develop a limited synthesis of qualitative or quantitative evidence to understand systematic reviews and evidence hierarchies.
5Plan an appropriate dissemination strategy to advance the transfer of knowledge.
6Analyze the role of scholarly inquiry as an essential component of advanced practice nursing.
