Spring 2026 Lecture Upper DivisionPromotes the use of critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and active learning to analyze contemporary issues related to professional nursing practice. Issues and key trends surrounding social determinants of health policy and economics, regulatory agencies, political action, cultural diversity, practice competency, nursing informatics and ethics are used as a framework. Permission of department required.
Learning Outcomes1Analyze standards of nursing care and regulations related to credentialing and certification.
2Evaluate historical components and current nursing practice that impact healthcare systems.
3Demonstrate understanding of the impact of local, state, national and global regulations on healthcare trends and healthcare policy.
4Evaluate the impact that economic, political, cultural, and social concerns have on the role of professional nursing and the healthcare delivery system.
