Fall 2026 Lecture Distance Learning ScienceUpper DivisionThis course is a broad introduction to the study of language development. It covers the human capacity to develop language, personal influences, and the learning processes involved in the development of language. We will discuss the acquisition of sounds, meaning, and structure of language, explore influences of personal background and cognition on language learning, and cover major theoretical explanations. We will also introduce tools to study language development.
