Fall 2026 Lecture Upper Division
This course is an in-depth examination of airport operations for air carrier and general aviation airports, with a strong emphasis on practical problem solving of current operational issues facing local and area airports.
Learning Outcomes1Understand and explain the framework for airport ownership and airport systems in the United States and provide a historical perspective of the evolution of the current system.
2Demonstrate a working knowledge of airport safety and security regulations and be able to explain the requirements, and roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders.
3Demonstrate a working knowledge for practical airport operations, including infrastructure, specifications, air traffic control, and required components of Part
44. Demonstrate a working knowledge of airport administrative management, including principles for airport design, the airport layout plan, operational considerations (e.g., capacity and delay), financial requirements and sustainability considerations.
