A study of nondestructive testing methods used to evaluate the structural integrity of airframes, engines, and components. Magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and radiographic inspection are covered.
Learning Outcomes1Learn basic concepts and procedures for effective Penetrant Testing, different systems (white light, black light), sequences and evaluation of defects.
2Learn basic concepts and procedures for effective Magnetic Particle Testing, system set up and checks, calculation of amperage used, identification of issues of materials and choice of methods, evaluation of defects.
3Learn basic concepts and procedures for effective Eddy Current Testing, system set up and checks, calculation of frequencies used, identification of issues of materials and effects of different wave forms on indications, and evaluation of defects.
4Learn basic concepts and procedures for effective Ultrasonic Testing, system set up and checks, calculation of frequencies used, identification of issues of materials and effects of different methods (surface, though, etc) and evaluation of defects.
