Spring 2026 Lecture Laboratory Distance Learning Credit By ExaminationLower DivisionDepartmental CreditThis course provides an introduction to the static analysis of aerostructures. Force systems, resultants and equilibrium, moments, distributed loads, and centroids as they relate to aeronautical structures are studied. CAD software is introduced.
Learning Outcomes1Determine the resultant of multiple vectors.
2Draw free-body diagrams and apply equilibrium equations to those diagrams.
3Demonstrate an understanding of the analysis of distributed loads in aerostructures.
4Develop knowledge of internal forces and moments in structural members.
5Develop an ability to calculate centroids and moments of inertia.
6Use CAD software to represent and analyze aerostructures.
