Fall 2026 Instructors:
A study of the operation of flight instruments and radio navigation aids, federal aviation regulations pertinent to instrument flight, meteorology, instrument charts, instrument flight planning, and air traffic control procedures. Preparation for the FAA Instrument Rating written examination.
Learning Outcomes1Demonstrate competency in aircraft flight instruments and navigation systems.
2Demonstrate competency in the Federal Aviation Regulations for instrument flight.
3Demonstrate competency in using instrument enroute charts, approach charts, SIDS and STARS in IFR flight planning.
4Demonstrate knowledge in conducting instrument approaches and holding patterns.
5Demonstrate knowledge in aviation weather and aviation weather services.
