An introduction to basic composite materials, processes, construction, testing, and repair. Students will work with a variety of wet and pre-impregnated fiber and matrix systems including glass, aramid fiber, and carbon-graphite.

Learning Outcomes

1Demonstrate familiarity with wet lay, prepreg, and VARTM processes.

2Use solid modeling software for part design, drafting, and composite design.

3Demonstrate understanding of basic CNC machining, mold-making, and curing,

4Repair damaged composite structures.
