Fall 2025 Instructors:

A discussion of the financial structure and operation of the aviation industry including aircraft and aerospace design parameters, as well as aviation financial and industrial processes. The course will cover material relevant to the overall structure of the aviation industry including history, current status of aerospace manufacturers, commercial airlines, and general aviation as well as governmental aviation agencies and international aviation. Commercialization of space and current issues in aviation will also be covered.

Learning Outcomes

1Understand the historical background of the numerous aspects of the air transportation industry.

2Explain the general concepts of the national and international aviation legal system.

3Describe the overall design and operation concepts of airports.

4Understand the concepts utilized in air traffic control.

5Describe the international aviation weather observation and dissemination system.

6Understand the role of aviation as it relates to environmental problems.
