Spring 2025 Instructors:

This course provides an introduction to financial modeling using computer applications. The first part of the course covers how to use Microsoft Excel to analyze historical and pro forma financial statements, stock return data, linear regression analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, Pivot Tables and also covers many advanced functions within Excel. The second part of the course provides an introduction to using SAS to analyze financial data and more advanced regression techniques. Prerequisites: MGMT 61000 (Note: Students who have not taken MGMT 61000 may enroll with instructor permission).

Learning Outcomes

1Gain experience using Excel to solve complex problems and build financial models.

2Learn how to use Excel and other software to build, test and run regression analysis with financial data.

3Provide an introduction to using SAS for analyzing financial data.

4Learn how to implement Monte Carlo simulations using Excel for financial applications.
