This course integrates an understanding of multiculturalism with principles of democratic education. Historical, sociological, cultural, political, philosophical, and pedagogical foundations of multiculturalism are explored and related to issues of pedagogy in a pluralistic society.
Learning Outcomes1Develop awareness of issues and concerns related to multicultural education.
2Develop knowledge of how multiculturalism impacts teachers, schools, classrooms, and society.
3Develop skills of critical thinking and reflection that will enable educators to contribute to meeting the needs of students in a multicultural and global world.
