Spring 2026 Laboratory Lecture Upper DivisionHydraulic and pneumatic circuits and their steady state and time-variant behavior as it affects the selection and design of components and systems used in fluid power transmission and motion control are studied. Emphasis is placed on industrial and mobile applications, but the principles also apply to aerospace, marine, and other fluid power systems.
Learning Outcomes1Utilize the applicable laws of fluid mechanics to compute the requirements of fluid power systems.
2Utilize computer software to evaluate starting and stopping transient behaviors in hydraulic systems.
3Design motion control strategies with various actuators and valves to accomplish a specified task with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
4Analyze the performance of various pumps and compressors and specify the appropriate pump or compressor for a hydraulic or pneumatic system.
