Fall 2025 Lecture Upper DivisionStudy of physiology of growth and development of woody plants. Emphasis on the structure and function of trees and their physiological response to environmental factors.
Learning Outcomes1Explain the importance of the various physiological processes through which heredity and environment interact to influence tree growth.
2Provide an overview of both the form and structure of trees.
3Define patterns of vegetative growth for temperate-zone and tropical woody plants.
4Describe the prominent features of the important physiological processes that affect plant growth and development, such as: photosynthesis; respiration; carbohydrate, nitrogen, and mineral nutrient relations; water absorption; transpiration; and plant hormones and other signaling molecules.
