Spring 2026 Lecture Laboratory Lower DivisionArt theory and experiences, curriculum theory, and materials preparatory for instruction of elementary school children. No undergraduate students may be enrolled in this course until they have been admitted to teacher education and a copy of this acceptance is on file.
Learning Outcomes1Apply visual arts methods to develop appropriate lessons to construct students' knowledge.
2Utilize two- and three-dimensional media commonly used by elementary students to teach art production and encourage the expression of ideas.
3Assess elementary students' artistic development levels and design activities to meet their artistic needs in the classroom.
4Apply elements of art, principles of design, interpretation skills, and judgment conclusions to evaluate and respond to works of art and to foster that ability in their elementary students.
