Spring 2025 Lecture Distance Learning Upper DivisionThis course will provide a historical perspective of Applied Behavior Analysis as well as the core principles of ABA. The learner will be exposed to the foundational concepts and methods of ABA including defining behaviors, collecting data, and understanding the three-term contingency of behavior. Permission of instructor required.
Learning Outcomes1Identify and define the basic concepts of applied behavior analysis including the foundations of ABA, interrelated domains, and dimensions of ABA.
2Identify factors to consider when selecting target goals including client and environmental factors.
3Define behavior utilizing observable and measurable terms including all components of an appropriate behavior goal.
4Identify measurable dimensions of behavior and appropriate measurement procedures, including advantages and disadvantages of each.
5Construct and interpret graphic displays of behavioral data.
6Describe the key components of visual analysis and a strong experimental design including interobserver agreement and treatment fidelity.
7Define reinforcement and punishment including application procedures, schedules of delivery, and key considerations.
8Identify the types of preference assessments including similarity and differences in procedures.
