A lecture and laboratory course designed to present physiology of domestic farm animals. Function of tissues and organs, maintenance of internal steady-state conditions, and body responses to external environmental conditions will be presented. Physiological mechanisms involved in lactation, growth, and reproduction will be included.

Learning Outcomes

1Understand the different physiological systems and their specific functions, including the detailed anatomy of each organ/organ system and their function on the cellular level.

2Develop a thorough understanding of the principle of homeostasis, interactions between physiological systems, and regulation of mammalian/avian physiology.

3Explain how physiological processes integrate across the whole animal.

4Understand the similarities and differences in the anatomy and physiology among animal species, including humans, food animals, and companion animals.

5Critically apply course learning to interpret basic laboratory findings of others.

Course ANSC 230 from Purdue University - West Lafayette.
