Fall 2026 Lecture Departmental CreditLower DivisionThis course provides students with a conceptual understanding of an integrated approach to teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Integrated STEM pedagogies include project/problem-based (PBL), engineering design-based, and inquiry-based approaches to teaching. Students engage in a co-teaching model to deliver FIntegrated STEM instruction and observe local K-12 classrooms.
Learning Outcomes1Describe the national importance of the integrative nature of the K-12 STEM curriculum.
2Identify foundational learning theories that blend an integrated approach to teaching.
3Identify common practices for scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians and similarities with other STEM careers.
4Describe the key tenants of PBL, Engineering design-based, and scientific inquiry-based approaches to teaching content.
5Create and deliver integrated STEM lessons that address two STEM subjects and state/national standards.
