Spring 2025 Studio Lecture Upper DivisionA course which introduces students to projects and the design information of the built environment as communication tools representing space and proportion. Through a blend of lectures and studio work, students obtain working knowledge of the traditions, documents and standards utilized in the planning for a built structure. Students will also experience how design decisions and programing are influenced by a multitude of outside influences.
Learning Outcomes1Develop basic projects, sketches and pre-projects related to the built environment using appropriate design conventions.
2Exercise criticism in relation to built environment design disciplines by taking user needs, aesthetics and technical demands into consideration at the same time.
3Analyze relevant precedents in order to make informed design choices.
4Explain the feasibility analysis, supervision and coordination of integrated projects.
5Demonstrate professionalism by analyzing proper communication, team work, rules & regulations, and level of detail required within an integrated approach to the design and construction of the built environment.
