Fall 2026 Lecture Distance Learning Lower DivisionBehavioral/Social SciencesThis course is an introduction to the study of politics and gender. Students will examine different theories about the impact of gender in multiple aspects of the political system, including representation, institutions, participation, attitudes, and public policy. The course will discuss historical and structural conditions that impact women's political roles as well as explore explanations of how contemporary factors relate to gender and women's status in society.
Learning Outcomes1Identify the major political, social, and economic issues faced by women in different countries.
2Analyze gender differences and similarities in political behaviors and attitudes.
