(FNR 40600) Introduction to economic models of renewable and nonrenewable natural resources and the use of these models in the analysis of current resource use and environmental issues.

Learning Outcomes

1Define "social efficiency" and "cost-effectiveness" and discuss each concept's caveats in allocating environmental goods.

2Identify externalities and understand the government's role in addressing them.

3Apply basic cost-benefit analysis for environmental decision-making.

4Understand the process of and justification for valuing environmental amenities.

5Discuss the economic perspective on environmental sustainability.
